DURING THE 1950’s, GYRO TRANSPORT SYSTEMS OUT OF NORTHRIDGE CALIFORNIA WAS COMMISSIONED BY THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE TO DEVELOP A RUGGED BACKCOUNTRY CYCLE.

THE TUSCAN COULD BE TRACKED ON DUAL REAR WHEELS, WAS GYROSCOPICALLY COUNTERBALANCED, AND MOUNTED WITH A FRONT SKI IN THE SNOW.

-IT FEATURED A 20hp ENGINE MOUNTED TO A 4 SPEED GEARBOX, AND FEATURED A DETACHABLE HEADLAMP THAT COULD DOUBLE AS A FLASHLIGHT.

-THE TUSCAN CLAIMED A 450lb CARRYING CAPACITY AND A 45mph PLUS TOP SPEED, WITH THE ABILITY TO CLIMB OVER 45 DEGREE TERRAIN.
